Mount Revelstoke National Park, Revelstoke, British Columbia
Mount Revelstoke stands on the west side to the Rocky Mountains and is where you can find the world’s only inland temperate rainforest. Here you will see some of the oldest natural environments in the world.
Along their popular half kilometer Giant Cedars Nature Trail, you will see Giant Cedars aged over five hundred years old and some are as thick as a car. Not all national parks can claim that as a centerpiece. The park is split into three zones based on elevation: Rainforest, Snowforest, and No Forest. The higher you travel through Mount Revelstoke, the colder the environment gets. Rain turns to snow and eventually at its highest point, you can see plains of old forest stretched out below you.

Like all games out there before you play it you need to recognise what the rules are. Knowing what the rules of a game are will help you to play properly without getting into trouble with fouls and the like.. Ultimate Frisbee is among the most popular Frisbee games in the US and some other nations.
Here are ten elementary regulations when playing ultimate Frisbee:
1. The Ultimate frisbee field is pretty much like a football field or a soccer field in that it is rectangular in shape and has 2 end zones. The regulation field measures 70 x 40 yards and the end zones are twenty five yards deep.
2. Participants of each team aline on their individual end zones. In ordinance Ultimate Frisbee games, each squad is drawn up of seven athletes. The defending team will initiate the game by throwing the Frisbee to the offensive team.
3. When the offensive team is able to catch a pass in the end zone of the defensive team, they receive a point. After the score is recognized, the play will again be started.
4. The Frisbee moves forward on the field when it is successfully thrown to other teammates. The players should not run with the Frisbee in their hand and they should pass it in less than 10 seconds to avoid any violations. The defending team member who is guarding the thrower makes the ten count.
5. The possession of the frisbee transfers when a pass away is stopped, blocked, dropped, or when the frisbee puts down out of bounds. The other team will have the frisbee when one team is unable to complete the pass.
6. Replacement of players is allowed in Ultimate Frisbee. Players can be substituted after a score is attained or during a timeout.
7. Players should not establish any bodily contact. Screens and picks are also not permitted. When there is personal contact, a foul will be given.
8. If the foul ends in the disruption of the disc possession, play will resume and the ownership will be preserved. Yet, if the person who perpetrated the foul differs with the claim, the play will be redone.
9. In virtually all ultimate Frisbee games, there are no refs. The players are the ones who give line and foul calls. If there are disputes, they solve it on their own.
10. Ultimate Frisbee emphasizes honest play and good sportsmanship. The squads encourage competitive play but regard for other participants should be strictly observed. All participants should adhere to the Ultimate Frisbee regulations and of without the need to say, they must not forget to enjoy the game.
These are only ten elementary regulations of Ultimate Frisbee. Acquaint yourself with the various rules of the game so that when you’re on the field, you will not commit any violations or fouls. Remember that Ultimate Frisbee doesn’t have a ref. Participants defend fellow participants and if you don’t know the rules, how can you tell if your opponent committed a foul?

Backpack camping in North America is one of the greatest adventures you can experience. The plethora of trail backpacking and backpack tours that you can take advantage of make it an ideal way to enjoy nature. With awe-inspiring scenery and exciting trails, you can be sure that backpack camping will be something you will remember for a lifetime. Be careful, though. As enjoyable as it might be, look for the possible dangers that surround you during your backpack camping adventure.
The United States and Canada are home to a wide variety of wildlife. Many backpack tours are specifically geared towards giving tourists an up close view of these animals. Trail backpacking on your own will also bring you into contact with much of the wildlife as well - and some of these encounters are ones you may not want.
Bears are North America’s largest and most unpredictable predator. You can find bears in the northernmost tip of Canada and Alaska to as far as the deep South of the United States. While bear attacks are considered rare, they still happen and you have to be prepared should you find yourself in this situation.
There are three basic reasons that cause of bear attacks while trail backpacking or during backpacking tours: One - the bear is caught by surprise; two - you’ve run into a female bear with cubs; three - the bear smells food near you.
Backpacking through the woods and staying as quiet as you can sounds like a great idea. After all, you want to see the wildlife before it runs away, right? Howver, unless you’re hunting, moving through bear territory quietly while trail backpacking can be dangerous. If you should suddenly appear in front of a bear at close range, the bear is going to be startled and angry. Make noise, talk, sing, or rattle cow bells as you hike to give the bear fair warning that you are in its territory. The bear will hear you and move off. The denser the area, the more noise you need to make. Bears have very poor eyesight, and they won’t see you coming through dense underbrush.
Even though cubs and bears are adorable, that doesn’t mean you should try to approach them. Even bear cubs, as harmless as they may seem, can be dangerous if you try to pet them. Their mama is definitely keeping watch. If they feel that their cubs are in any danger at all, they will do what they need to do to get rid of the threat. If you come across any animals during your backpacking tour, resist the urge to approach them as this could be an extremely dangerous thing to do.
A backpacking tour might take you a few days, so your trip will include camping overnight. Bears might not be able to see very well, but they have an amazing sense of smell and they will definitely sniff out any food that you have with you. If you have food hidden anywhere in your gear or tent, they will find it. To help keep them away from your campsite, hang the food in a tree at least fifteen feet off the ground away from the campsite. Be sure to hang it in the middle of a branch where a climbing bear won’t be able to get to it.
Before leaving on your backpack camping trip, know the dangers in the wilderness. With the unpredictability of the animals in the wild, you never really know what they might do. One thing is for sure, though. They will always protect themselves and their babies if they feel threatened. If you’re unsure about what to do regarding the animals you encounter, the safest thing you can do is stay as far away from them as possible.
From the outside the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico are nothing special and consist of several gray rock formations and a bit of scrub brush covering a not too cliff. However, step inside and this is one of the most wondrous landscapes on Earth and, with more than 100 limestone caves for you to explore, you could wander through the caves for years without seeing the same thing twice.
The Bat Cave is not for the feint hearted and is home to of many thousands of these flying mammals. The Bifrost Room, which is named after the Bifrost bridge into Valhalla, will leave you breathless and the colors truly echo those of the rainbow. The largest open chamber in the system is The Hall of Giants which covers an amazing 360,000 square feet. Within all of these, and many more rooms, you can find some of Mother Nature’s most creative work.
A giant stalagmite – The Witch’s Finger – is a corkscrew-like formation that is over five times the height of the average person and the Rock of Ages is truly impressive as it makes stationary rock appear to move and the multitude of flowstone outcroppings look like a demon’s lair glowing from within.
Within the caverns you can either take self guided or staff guided tours which vary in their degree of difficulty from easy walks through large open spaces to climbing 10 foot high walls and crawling through narrow openings into large chambers.
One tour takes you through part of Lechuguilla Cave which, at more than 1,600 feet below ground, is America’s deepest cave. This cave covers more than 112 miles as it winds through the Guadalupe Mountains.
For the less active, you can visit the Big Room by taking an elevator which descends 900 feet and look up to be simply captivated by this 25 story high open space. You can then wander around this 1,800 foot by 250 foot room which is filled with incredible rock formations. You should also visit the Temple of the Sun and view its dozens of eerily lit pools.
If you do want to see the bats though you will have to visit between the months of April and September as the 300,000 Mexican free tailed bats fly south for the winter. A half mile walk from the entrance leads to a plateau from where you can descend the 750 feet into the Bat Cave.
And do not forget to pop on your favorite pair of waterproof hiking boots and take a look at the area outside the caves as there are a number of fascinating things to both do and see. Despite its name, hiking along Rattlesnake Springs you are more likely to come across dozens of harmless reptiles and birds than you are to see the dangerous snakes from which the place gets its name.
A final favorite with visitors to the area is the 10 mile scenic drive through Walnut Canyon. This drive takes you along Guadalupe Ridge and the views along the way are simply breathtaking.

For boat users there are numerous boat ramps. The lake has a ave. depth of 34ft and is 98ft at it’s deepest point. Lake Draper covers 2,900 surface acres.

Lightweight backpacking pertains to packing gear that is the lightest possible to sustain them for whatever period of time they plan to be traveling. Packing light can mean shedding over 30 pounds of often useless gear that the backpacker may never even use. Traditional backpacks normally carry between 30 and 50 pounds. This can be a lot of weight to lug around with you over a period of time. Lightweight backpack travelers choose to take their base pack weight down to 12 to 20 pounds, which is considerably lighter than traditional backpacks.
Heavier backpacks can cause serious problems for many people.
